The Chinese Zodiac

The Chinese Zodiac is a vital part of Chinese culture, with origins dating back to around 2000 BC. Originally designed as a timekeeping system, it was used to mark years, months, and days. In ancient agricultural society, farmers depended on natural cycles for their work, and the zodiac provided a structured way to track time.

The 12 Zodiac Animals

The Chinese Zodiac consists of 12 animals, each representing unique personality traits that are believed to influence those born in that year:

  • Rat – Intelligent & resourceful
  • Ox – Hardworking & reliable
  • Tiger – Brave & strong
  • Rabbit – Gentle & cautious
  • Dragon – Charismatic & ambitious
  • Snake – Wise & mysterious
  • Horse – Energetic & free-spirited
  • Goat – Kind & artistic
  • Monkey – Clever & playful
  • Rooster – Confident & observant
  • Dog – Loyal & honest
  • Pig – Generous & easygoing

This cycle repeats every 12 years, with each year assigned to a different zodiac sign. It is also combined with the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), creating a more intricate astrological system.

The Legend of the Zodiac Race

A famous legend explains how the zodiac order was decided. The Jade Emperor organized a great race, inviting all the animals to cross a river, with the first 12 to finish earning a place in the zodiac.

The Rat and Cat, both excellent runners, asked the Ox for a ride across the river. However, midway, the Rat betrayed the Cat by pushing it into the water and then leaped ahead to win the race. The final order became:

① Rat
② Ox
③ Tiger
④ Rabbit
⑤ Dragon
⑥ Snake
⑦ Horse
⑧ Goat
⑨ Monkey
⑩ Rooster
⑪ Dog
⑫ Pig

This is why, according to legend, cats have held a grudge against rats ever since.

The Chinese Zodiac remains deeply embedded in Chinese traditions, influencing personality beliefs, fortune-telling, and even matchmaking today.

Zodiac Pig – Symbol of Prosperity & Happiness

In the Chinese Zodiac, the Pig is the twelfth sign, known as the "Hai Pig." The Pig represents abundance, wealth, and happiness, often associated with prosperity, comfort, and generosity. It symbolizes a life of plenty and contentment, signifying good fortune and blessings. In Chinese culture, the Pig is regarded as an auspicious symbol, representing wealth and success. The Pig's character reminds people to be content and grateful, cherish every moment of happiness, and share their wealth and joy with others.

Product Details:
This exquisite figurine features a delicately sculpted neck, broad shoulders, and a gently tapered abdomen with a circular foot. Its smooth, lustrous white glaze subtly reflects a soft bluish hue, enhancing its beauty. The pig's head is masterfully crafted with small, round eyes that convey a gentle and contented expression. Its broad nose, wide mouth, and large, drooping ears resemble two fan-like shapes, adding to its charming and relaxed appearance.

The abdomen is decorated with a blue-and-white dragon motif, with the dragon's mouth open, tongue extended, and body adorned with intricate scales. The piece is framed by red-glazed auspicious clouds, adding grace and elegance.
